In addition to our Pack 505 events, membership in Scouting provides many opportunities for our Scouts. These events are not hosted by Pack 505.

Houston Gem and Mineral Society Show

November 9, 2019; Humble Civic Center

The HGMS teaches general geology and basic rock types, properties of minerals and fossils, the economic uses of minerals, types of geoscience careers and requirements to enter this profession, and we start the Scout on acquiring his mineral/fossil collection (the remainder can easily be obtained at the show).

Our Arrow of Lights Scouts can work on their Earth Rocks! adventure here.

Rocket Days

Scouts who join Cub Scouts this year will receive a rocket that they can design, build, and launch at Rocket Day. Scouts in kindergarten through fifth grade who are interested in joining Scouting may also attend. We will help you find a pack near you and get signed up for Scouting.

Adventure Camp at Bovay Scout Ranch

Adventure Camp, December 6-8, 2019

Registration is also open for 2020: February 28- March 1; March 6-8; March 27-29;

April 17-19; May 1-3; May 15-17

Adventure Camp is weekend campout for Cub Scouts and their families at Bovay Scout Ranch. Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos Scouts and their families will enjoy an exciting variety of activities at several program areas. Meals are eaten in the air-conditioned dining hall. A staff member in each area will provide program supplies and support the parents who will be invited to assist in leading the activities.

Space Center Houston Scout Camp-In

Space Center Houston engages Scouts in an interactive and hands-on learning environment. Scouts will have an enriched experience in our Camp-In that teaches Scouts about the science, technology, engineering and mathematics involved with space exploration. Each camp-in is tailored to the individual ages of the Scouts. The activities are badge-inspired, STEM-based and all about space!

Armand Bayou Nature Center

Belt loop adventures offered for different ranks at various times. Go to Armand Bayou's website for details.


Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

Cub Scouts program after Labor Days will be offered here. Details on the Arboretum's website.


Nature Discovery Center

Den leaders can schedule an outing / meeting at the Nature Discovery Center. Activities here require a 5 Scout minimum. (Our girl Lions den just had a great outing here). Visit the Nature Discovery Center to see what adventures they offer.

There is not advancement planned at this event, but I heard there will be a big robot.

STEM / Nova Day @ HMNS

September 21, 2019, Houston Museum of Natural Science

Scouts@HMNS is hosting their fourth annual STEM/Nova Day on Saturday, September 21st for Cub Scouts, Webelos, Scouts BSA and their families! Scouts will have access to the Museum at a discounted rate while working towards requirements for Nova Awards. The program will begin at 9am and conclude at 1pm. Scouts will have the opportunity to work on certain STEM/Nova Awards during their visit to HMNS.

Fun, Family is an overnight campout for newly registered Cub Scouts and their adult partner and families at Bovay Scout Ranch . Scouts can participate in archery, sling shots, crafts, rockets, sports, campfire and more.

Saint Vincent De Paul Church After Mass Coffee and Donuts Our Cubmaster-emeritus Alex Montoya is going to be at Saint Vincent de Paul Church this Sunday after mass serving coffee and donuts and promoting Scouting and Pack 505. We need a few families (including their Scouts) to join him after the 7 am, 9 am, and 11 am mass. We need two volunteers per mass. Please email Alex at alexismontoya@hotmail.com if you are available this Sunday (8/17/2019) to help promote Scouting and Pack 505 at our charter organization.
